MegaChess Wire Frames and Topiary Chess Pieces are made of .25" welded steel. We coat each piece with black or white Rustoleum to prevent rust. These pieces can withstand all weather conditions. Each pieces comes with a hard rubberized anti Scratch Pad to protect your chessboard.
When planning a playing area, consider the minimum size of the square of a chessboard as the diameter of the base of the king (12.25"). The optimum chess board would be 13" squares, a standard tile size, yielding a chessboard 8' 8" on each side.
