Home Decorators

News Flash

Take a peek at the Mega Deco section we produced just for you. MegaChess pieces cut in half to make engaging wall reliefs.

If you're decorating a home, either as a homeowner or as a professional, consider the themes supported by chess:
Strategy
Being smart
Wealth & luxury
Winning (the game)
Thinking

Anyone who saw the Harry Potter movies knows the effect a giant chess set has on kids. Learn from the masters of children's entertainment, and provide these low-maintenance room accessories for a child's room. And remember who signs your check: do parents want their kids inspired to play chess?

Here are some themes to exploit for each of the pieces:

  • King - King of the house. The power center. Game room.

  • Queen - Queen of the house. The room where women are in charge or recognized. Girl's room.

  • Rook - The rook or castle stands for stability. Safety, protection and defense. Strength. Financial security. Note its flat top, allowing it to be the base for other decorations like coffee tables, lamps, and flowers (within turrets).

  • Knight - The knight or horse stands for daring, agility, adventure, courage, and gallantry. Medieval romance. Bookends facing outward. Common in military emblems and family shields.

  • Bishop - A subtle, non-denominational religious statement. Say something spiritual without navigating the tricky area of religious preferences. It's symmetry supports addition to furniture, railing posts and bollards.

  • Pawn - The downtrodden and abused. Typically a gag decoration for an office. Several pawns signify children, particularly in front of a king and queen.

Because they are large, MegaChess pieces are easy to work into special applications. Decorators have converted faux finished plaster chess pieces into lamps, for example, and teak pieces built into furniture. Want to kick around ideas with someone who has experience? Ask the Expert.

We're finding home owners asking to see MegaChess sets and pieces before deciding on them as decorative accessories. We are adding a referral system to our website pointing to you, the home decorating professional. Our suggestion will be, "Want to see MegaChess? Contact these vendors when making plans to redecorate, and ask them to bring MegaChess pieces to your strategy sessions."

To be on the list, you will need only to have one in stock.
