256 square foam tile mats 12" across, interlocking to form a
chessboard 16-ft by 16-ft with 24" playing squares. The ½" thick
material is designed for indoor usage, originally as flooring in gyms and
fitness rooms. The entire chessboard weighs just 65 lbs.

bunch up and wrinkle during a game

- Although designed for indoor use, you can use them
outdoors and reduce fading if you give them a polyurethane coating. Easiest is
to assemble the chessboard over a drop cloth and apply a spray polyurethane
from a can.
